Exploring Geotechnics and Geosynthetics: PT Geoforce Indonesia Engages Students at Politeknik PU Semarang
Semarang – PT Geoforce Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of future engineering professionals by participating in a Guest Lecture held at the Semarang State Polytechnic of Public Works (Politeknik Pekerjaan Umum) on June 5, 2026.
The event featured two experienced industry practitioners from PT Geoforce Indonesia: Ir. Dandung Sri Harninto, ST, MT, IPU, ASEAN Eng., President Director of PT Geoforce Indonesia, and Abdul Aziz Avicenna, ST, Director of Marketing, Sales & Engineering.
The main topic of the lecture was “Soil Mechanics: Geotechnics and Soil Stabilization”, covering the fundamentals of soil mechanics, soil behavior, and various soil stabilization methods commonly applied in infrastructure projects. Through this session, students gained valuable insights into the crucial role of geotechnical engineering in ensuring the safety, stability, and sustainability of civil engineering structures.
In addition, participants were introduced to geosynthetic materials and their applications in ground improvement solutions. The discussion highlighted several geosynthetic technologies, including Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) Walls, Gi Tubes, Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD), and Prefabricated Horizontal Drains (PHD), which have been widely implemented in infrastructure projects across Indonesia.
The lecture was met with great enthusiasm from the students, who actively participated in discussions and interactive Q&A sessions. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to connect academic knowledge with real-world engineering practices and industry challenges.
Through initiatives like this, PT Geoforce Indonesia aims to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while inspiring future engineers to expand their knowledge in geotechnical engineering and geosynthetic technologies.
"Sharing knowledge and practical experience is part of our contribution to preparing the next generation of engineers who will help shape Indonesia’s infrastructure future," said a representative of PT Geoforce Indonesia.
The company hopes that such collaborations will continue to bridge the gap between education and industry, fostering highly skilled graduates who are ready to contribute to sustainable infrastructure development.
